Infrared is a safe wavelength of light (or energy) which we feel as heat. Infrared works by heating the body directly, warming us safely to create a cardiovascular workout on the body whilst removing heavy metals and toxins. Infrared is different from steam or hot rocks sauna in that it heats the body at a lower more comfortable temperature.
MIND + BODY BENEFITS
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
Infrared sauna has been shown to reduce inflammatory markers in the body.
CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH
Infrared Sauna provides a natural boost in circulation with regular use attributed to weight loss.
ASSISTS WITH SLEEP
Infrared sauna activates the para- sympathetic nervous system leaving us calm and relaxed
PAIN RELIEF
Pain is often related to poor blood circulation in the body. Increasing blood circulation through exercise, tea, sauna or hot baths helps move oxygen-rich blood throughout the body, into the muscles and joints and aids our body in reducing inflammation in painful areas
LOSE WEIGHT
Infrared Sauna gets the body working… hard. During higher temperature sessions, heart rate can reach 150bpm. Sustaining this level of work requires a calorie burn and commitment!
MUSCLE RECOVERY
Infrared light has been shown to promote cell autophagy, a critical process our body undergoes to ensure cells are renewed and restored or killed off. Infrared all keeps our circulation up whilst resting the muscles after a workout to help clear out lactic acid bring vital nutrients and enzymes to the muscle for repair.
THE PROCESS
WHAT TO EXPECT
The sauna is located within its own private therapy room which will be stocked with towels and water for personal use.
Prior to your arrival the sauna will be preheated and ready to use. We recommend you enter the sauna with minimal garments (ie. swimwear or cotton underwear). For hygiene purposes, we ask that you sit on a towel for the duration of your session.
During your session you have the option to blue tooth in to the sauna’s speakers and listen to your favourite relaxation music, meditations or podcasts. The sauna has also been fitted with light therapy and we encourage you to experiment with the different colours during your session. For maximum benefit we recommend a sauna session of 55-65 degrees celsius for 40mins, however if you need to take a break you are able to enter and exit the sauna as many times as you like during the session.
PREPARING FOR YOUR SAUNA
If it is your first sauna experience, try to arrive 5-10 mins early so we have the opportunity to welcome you and talk you through your first session. It is important to make sure you are well hydrated before and after any sauna session for maximum benefit and detoxification. An hour before your sauna try to drink at least 500mls of good quality filtered water.
If you can, limit the number of personal care products you put on before a session. Clean skin will make it easier for your body to cleanse and clear out all the toxins and impurities. Feel free to bring some reading material or music to enjoy during your session. Be prepared to get hot, sweaty and enjoy some deep cleansing relaxation.
AFTER YOUR SAUNA
Wipe yourself down with a dry or cool wet towel. If you’ve used any of our towels, then we ask you to kindly place them in the used wash basket provided.
Ideally, avoid using any soap, shampoo or moisturiser after your sauna as it can block up the lovely open pores of the skin and stop the past-sauna detox effect. Drink another 500ml of water over the next 10-30 minutes. Resting for 10-30 minutes after your sauna is ideal. It helps transition the body back to homeostasis (balance) and decreases the chance of light-headedness or fatigue later in the day.
Cool Shower at the earliest convenience to remove sweat and toxins from your skin. A cold water rinse will close up your pores quickly and leave your skin feeling incredibly and naturally smooth. You might feel the need to relax before getting back to your day. Listen to your body.
